Gwagwalada: LEA boss restates support for girl child education

The Gwagwalada Area Council secretary for Local Education Authority (LEA), Hajiya Safiya Tukura has reiterated commitment to promotion of girl child education with a view to bringing up children that would be good ambassadors of the society.
Tukura noted that education remains the best legacy for parents to leave for children and must be given priority attention.
The LEA secretary urged government at all levels to do more for the growth and development of children’s education, “If you educate a child you educate the whole nation”
She opined that her leadership commitment to ensuring that no stone remain unturned to encouraging high rate of girl child enrollment in primary schools in Gwagwalada and its environs.
Furthermore, Tukura advised parents to be awake to their responsibility of monitoring the movements of their wards especially during the festive periods.
The LEA scribe called on parents to allow their children to enjoy their holidays, noting that engaging the pupils in holiday’s lessons was not proper that children should not be engaged throughout the year for academic activities.
She however applauded the chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Hon. Mustapha Adamu for being gender sensitive in terms of giving equal opportunities to both male and female pupils across primary schools in academic and extracurricular activities.
She equally implored teachers in the council to reciprocate government gesture by showing commitment and dedication to their duties through impacting requisite knowledge and grooming of the younger ones to become good future leaders.
The female educationist stressed that the LEA would continue to provide necessary instructional materials to primary schools in the area, aimed at enabling the pupils maintained their excellence performances in inter- school quiz competition.
