The Benin Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA) has began the decentralisation of its operations towards making safe drinking water available for rural dwellers.
Under this initiative, the Auchi Area Office has been Commissioned to undertake the responsibility to among others, address the water needs of people living in catchment areas around the host Community.
The Chairman of the board of Directors of the authority, Alhaji Ali Olaganju Olanusi, said this at board’s annex located at Auchi, headquarters of Etsako West Local Government Area of the State.
He said the intervention was in line with the federal government desire to prioritize provision of basic needs of the people and diversify the economy in the face of dwindling oil revenues.
On his part, Engr. Saliu Ahmed Osifuemhe, Managing Director of BORBDA, said the agency has been repositioned to promote national food security through the entrenchment of agriculture.
In their goodwill messages, the Otaru of Auchi, Alhaji Haliru Momoh, the Ikelebe III and Chairman of Etsako West Loal Government Council, Mr. Yakubu Oshiorenua thanked the Commission for the feat.
