Police authorities in Gombe, yesterday said they found the dead body of a middle-aged woman in a lodge in the state.

Confirming the discovery to newsmen, the Gombe state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Fwaje Atajiri said the body of the woman had since been taken to the state’s Specialist Hospital for post mortem.

He said contrary to insinuations in town, no part of the woman’s body was found missing and that no injury was found in her body.

The PPRO who pleaded with journalists to wait for the outcome of the investigation, refused to confirm whether any arrest was made at the lodge, popularly known as Primary Guest Inn, in Sabon Layi area of the state capital.

According to Atajiri, the area is well known as a ‘den of criminals’. Residents of the area had earlier hinted our correspondent of the foul smell around the guest inn before the body was discovered.

One of the residents said some parts of the woman’s body were also found missing.
