The Nigerian Army has paraded eleven suspected cattle rustlers.
The rustlers who were arrested in possession of fire arms were paraded at headquarters of Operation Safe Haven ( OPSH), in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Major General Augustine Agundu, the Special Task Force Commander gave the names of the suspects as Timothy Dung, Joel Sunday, James Elisha, Solomon Monday, Chollom Kim John, Jonathan Gwon, Hehemiah Gwom Tsok, Isa Abubakar, Chinedu Egbebuike and Yusuf Sule.
Mr Augustine Agundu said Jonathan Gwom and Hehemiah Tsok had been found in possession of locally made AK47 rifle loaded with 13 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and a Baretta pistol loaded with eight rounds of 9mm ammunition.
According to Agundu, the suspects were en-route Mararaban Foron junction in Barkin Ladi at the time of the arrest and were suspected to have participated in the January 2nd attacks on Nding and Jong villages in the area.
Also paraded was James Elisha, at Rakwok village in Barkin Ladi in posession of an AK47 rifle loaded with one round of 7.62mm ammunition.
“The suspect believed to be a cattle rustler accidentally shot himself on his left foot while attempting to flee on sighting own troops.preliminary investigations reveal that Jamse and his gang members have been operating within Barkin Ladi and its environs,” Agundu said..
Isa Abubakar, a corps member serving at Ancha community school in Isukwaito local government area of Abia state was also paraded at the headquarters of the operation. He said Abubakar was found in a commercial vehicle en-route Jos with 477 sachets of illicit drugs suspected to be Flunitrazepzm.
”Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of another drug peddler at Saint Murumba in Jos with 146 sachets of the same drugs, “ he said.
General Agundu also stated that the OPSH special operations team on Monday apprehended one Yusuf Sule who claimed to be a lawyer and member of the Peace Corps with a Baretta pistol and 95 rounds of 9mm ammunition at his residence in Dagwom Du Rayfield.
Mr Agundu added that the suspects would be handed over for prosecution.
