Police arrest two suspects linked to abduction of military recruits
The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction of three newly passed-out military recruits along the Anka-Bukuyum Road in Zamfara State.
This was made known in a statement issued by SP Bashir Usman, the command spokesman, on Tuesday.
The suspects are Abubakar Mallan Abubakar of Gargam Village, Bagega, Anka LGA, Zamfara State and Usman Muhammadu of Ajera, Ilorin, Kwara State.
They were arrested on 1st August 2026 at about 0615hrs, in a targeted operation based on credible intelligence.
During preliminary investigation, the police said one of the suspects made useful disclosures regarding the abduction of the three military recruits in July 2026 along the Kwanan Mayanchi–Gurusu axis of Zamfara State.
One of the victims is Kabiru Hassan of Ribah, Danko/Wasagu LGA, while the other two victims are from Zuru LGA. The victims have since regained their freedom.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi, Umar M. Hadejia has commended the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to identifying, arresting and prosecuting all persons connected with the case.
