The Director, Monitoring and Inspection Department of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Olawale Labiyi has decried the increasing spate of illegal structures on pipeline corridors in the Territory.
Labiyi said it was unfortunate that the perpetrators of illegal developments do not have respect for the massive infrastructure that the FCTA has put in place for the benefit of the residents.
The Director, who was represented by Sani Tswako during a site visit noted that the unlawful practice is not only endangering lives of residents, but also impending easy access of equipment to the pipeline right of way, when there’s a need for maintenance.
Leading a team to inspect affected FCT Water Board pipeline at Gishiri, lamented the reconstruction of illegal structures on roommate Trunk pipeline, after a previous removal of illegal structures on the right of way.
According to him, the inspection of stabilization of pipeline corridors was satisfactorily completed but that the way illegal structures were emerging was worrisome.
He therefore called on illegal developers to desist from tampering with critical public infrastructure in the Territory.
