Niger Tornadoes coach advocates fair officiating

The Technical Adviser of Niger Tornadoes Football Club of Minna, Chief Godwin Koko Uwua has advised referees in Nigeria to support the growth of football by allowing free flow of the game.

He stated this in an interview after his side lost to Plateau United of Jos at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos, at the weekend.

Uwua said that the 26th minute scored by Plateau’s Philip Azonto header was a controversial one, as Tornadoes goal keeper, Aliko Mustapha was impeded during the process and was not protected by the referee.

“I have been in this system for the past 30 years, am in NNL to help the younger ones, if we must develop the game allow the better side to win”, he said

He also rated Tornadoes performance above Plateau United, saying that his should have won the tie.

According to him anyone who watched the game would have seen that his boys were more purposeful and gave best account of themselves.

Uwua noted that he has put the match behind and is concentrating in his next match to be played in Minna, adding that the team cannot afford to be throwing away scoring chances.
