Deputy Senate president: Benue Ndigbo woos APC support for Senator Gaya

The Ibos in Benue state have called on the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) to support Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya (APC Kano South) for Deputy Senate President.
It was learnt that the call to support Senator Gaya became necessary because of the committeemen of Senator Gaya, who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Works to tackle the erosion menace in the South-east.
A very influential business Ibo man, Chief Ikenna Obi said that the Igbos are pleased with Senator Gaya’s humanness as a federal lawmaker, adding that an autonomous community in Enugu state realising this fact, honoured the senator last year with a chieftaincy title because of his contributions to the South-east.
He said that it is the belief of Igbos that if Senator Gaya becomes the deputy Senate President, the aspiration of Igbos in the ruling party will become a hope comes true.
They appealed to the ruling party that any other candidate for the Deputy Senate Presidency could be a slight on the Igbo nation.
On the issue, an Ibo leader in Benue who does not want his name in print said that he has not met with the senator one- on- one in life, but believe that the former Kano governor is a man to be trusted any day and time.
He joined his voice with those who have called on the ruling APC to avoid the mistake of 2015 and elect all APC members as principal officers of the both houses at the National Assembly for speedy development and the “Change” agenda that brought the party to power in 2015.
He said that if the APC fails to deliver in their second term, there will be no excuses.
He therefore called on the APC to see the senator’s loyalty to the party, his belief on President Muhammadu Buhari’s vision for Nigeria, the record and experience qualify him as the next Deputy Senate President to take Nigeria to the next level of development.
