Lalong sworn-in for second term, promises to be fair to all religious, ethnic affiliations

The Plateau State governor, Simon Lalong, has been sworn-in for another four years in office.
Governor Lalong was sworn-in in Wednesday at Rwang Pam Township Stadium, in Jos North Local Government Area of the state.
In his inaugural speech, Lalong promised to be fair to all ethnic and religious groups in the state assuring to abide by the policy of inclusiveness.
“I promise to be impartial , neutral and fair to all concerned, regardless of ethnic, religious and political affinities. Plateau is a State with diverse ethnicities. I therefore assure all and sundry of holding on to our policy of inclusiveness and get everybody in different position of responsibility to do the needful, “ the governor said.
Mr Lalong further urged people in the state to respect one another irrespective of their individual background . He said the nature of human being is one that deserves to be valued and held with high esteemed.
“ Our Humanism will be based on the principles that people need freedom and self-determination; that people should be respected and held in high esteem. We must therefore learn to form communities that respect human life and tolerate differences to avert the embers of hate and fanaticism.
However, governor Lalong’s victory marks the second time he is defeating the PDP in the state. In 2015, he defeated the late Gyang Pwajok of the PDP to become the first governor from opposition to win governorship election in the state.
In 2019, Lalong defeated Jeremiah Useni of the PDP to serve another four years in office.
PDP had governed the state for 16 years. Joshua Dariye, a senator who is currently in prison, had governed from 1999 to 2007 while Jonah Jang, governed from 2007 to 2015.
