The Adamawa state Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the Permanent Secretary, state ministry of Mineral Resources,Mr.Emmanuel Piridimso at gun point in his residence.
Spokesman of the Command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje disclosed to our correspondent in a mobile phone interview in Yola Wednesday that the permanent secretary was kidnapped at his house in the early hours of Wednesday forcefully.
Nguroje stated that the Commissioner of Police, Mr.Audu Madaki has detailed the anti-kidnapping unit, CID detectives and IGP rapid response squad to rescue the victim and arrest the culprits who are on the run.
According to Nguroje, as the assigned police teams swung in to action,they traced his personal car used in conveying them and himself to outskirts of jambutu area of Gwadawa ward in Yola North local government area.
He assured his family and public that the police are working assiduously to ensure their lives and properties are protected .
Narrating their ordeal,a family member who pleaded anonymity said the kidnappers broke in to the victim’s resistance at clerk quarters opposite Anglican Cathedral Church in Gwadawa ward at 3:20AM Wednesday ‘s morning.
“The gunmen came bearing two guns and abducted the permanent secretary at gun point around 3:20 Wednesday’s morning.
“They carted away his handsets and that of his wife.We tried to contact them via his phone but to no avail as they refused to pick our several calls made through the victim’s phone.
“As at time, we are speaking the abductors were yet to contact us as a family “the source lamented.
