Defection: Defunct Adamawa ACN disowns Gundiri

The defection of the former gubernatorial candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, (ACN), Engr. Markus Gundiri in Adamawa State has begun to generate controversies as stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) who were former members of the defunctunder Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) have distanced themselves from his decision to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The stakeholders, consisting of the state executives of the defunct ACN and all the party chairmen in the 21 local government areas of the state met in Yola yesterday, disowning the former governorship candidate on the platform of the party.

Addressing newsmen, Gundiri’s running mate in the 2011 governorship election in Adamawa, Alhaji Abdulrazak Namdas, flanked by all the party’s executives declared

that they remain in the APC as they have nothing to do with the exit of the former ACN guber candidate.

Namdas re-iterated his commitment and that of other defunct ACN stakeholders to remain and work for the total entrenchment of APC in Adamawa.

“As former members of the defunct ACN, we are aware of the fact that APC is a collection of different groups/individuals, it therefore goes without saying that only sacrifice and patience will make the party work.

“Therefore we call on our members to remain in the APC because it is the only hope of Nigerians for a better future. Our members should understand that as founding members of APC, they should not be intimidated or cajoled by other party to leave the house they laid the foundation and built.

“The APC’s philosophy is the welfare of the common man; the assurance of a great future for the youths, and a decent quality of life for all”, Namdas said.

Defunct ACN chieftains in Adamawa who graced the briefing to show their solitary for APC include Mr Boss Mustapha, Amb. Fatima Ballah, Hajiya Salamatu Bala, Mr Vincent Musa and Mr Yohanna Mathias.
