Kaduna state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has continued to receive decampees from the opposition parti es even as President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to address a rally of party stakeholders in the North West zone in the city today.

A party stalwart who was a former National Assembly member, Hon Mohammed Saleh Annur, while speaking to newsmen in Kaduna yesterday disclosed that several top politicians who had earlier left the PDP have indicated readiness to return.

“I want to assure you that there are many top members of our great party that left few months ago, but because they are now satisfied with the leadership of the party, they are ready to come back and they have told some of us that they are returning home to PDP.”

The PDP stalwart said many of those who left the party recently did so as result of some internal problems saying “now that we have a new leadership at the national level, the party is becoming stronger and many of our members, both those that decamped and those that wanted to follow them out, have now realized that PDP is the only party that guarantees them democracy and freedom.”

He said the Kaduna state chapter of the PDP was strong even in the face of crisis due to the leadership quality of Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero saying “the governor has succeeded in keeping the party as one family because he listens to all shades of opinions and he is always fair to all in carrying out decisions. That is why the PDP in Kaduna has remained strong and solid.”

Meanwhile preparations for the arrival of President Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo and other party leaders to Kaduna was in top gear as thousands of members of the party from other parts of the zone have mobilized to Kaduna to receive the President.

Our reporter who went round Kaduna over the weekend observed that most hotels in the city were fully booked while the commercial activities peaked as a result of influx of supporters of the PDP for the North-West rally.
