Police identify touting as setback to its airport operations

The Police has identified touting by persons carrying out unsolicited business operations around airports in Nigeria as a major challenge confronting it.

Commissioner of Police, Murtala Muhammed International Airport Police Command in Lagos, Mr. Waheed Salau yesterday said the growing threat pose by touts at the airport is alarming.

Speaking at the decoration of twenty-three newly promoted officers of the command, Salau said the police have design measures to curtail their operations.

“we have always been keeping them abay because they see the airport as a pot of honey but we will continue to do our best to send them out of this place and we are actually sending them out”, he told journalists.

He said the Federal Government should provide more technological equipment to combat crimes at the airports.

A newly promoted Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr. Timothy Dosu was grateful to God and the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar as well as the Police Service Commission.

Dosu, alongside others said they would contribute their best and make the commissioner and the command be proud of them.

The high point of the event was the decoration of the twenty-three officers who were promoted from the ranks of Inspectors to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and from ASP to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
