…as Oyetayo assumes rector

The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has disclosed that the College of Insurance will commence operation by June this year even as it has appointed Dr Yeside Oyetayo as the college rector.

The Director General of the Instiute, Mr. Kola Ahmed, who disclosed this during a press conference held in Lagos, stated that the institute is in the final phase of completion the college.

According to him the first phase which includes the Admin/Multipurpose, the Restaurant and three Chalets that were on ground as at May 2013 while the second phase has also been completed last year.

He said that six additional structures has been added to the third and final phase which includes 50 bedroom (All Ensuite) hall of Residence, 1 Storey 2,3-Bedroom Senior Staff Quarters and four Units of Chalet which are expected to be completed before the end of April.

Four buildings under constructions, he said are 1-twin Duplex Rector’s Lodge and 3 additional chalets.

He noted that these efforts represent an uninhibited commitment towards actualization of the college project and ultimately launching it for full take off, he said.

Ahmed stated that the institute appointed Yeside Oyetayo as the rector, to fast-trackmthe initiation of the college programmes in the course of the year.

Oyetayo whom he said was a renowned insurance operator before joining academics will assume duty by April this year.

He also assured that the staff of the institute is committed to ensuring that these combined developmental action plan remain on course and that the institute becomes a reference point in the comity of the global professional bodies.
