Auto-crash kills 14 in Jigawa

No fewer than fourteen people including children and women were killed in a ghastly motor accident that occurred around Garin-Galla village area of Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Jigawa State SP Abdul Jinjiri confirmed the accident saying that those involved are travellers on Kano- Gumel road last Saturday evening.
According to him, the incident happened on 31/08/2019 at about 1900hrs when one Yusuf Bala of Nasarawa Local Government Area in Kano State a driver of Volkswagen Golf 3 collided with another Golf 3 saloon car with reg. no Xa 777 BAU at Garin Galla village in Ringim Local Government Area.
He said 14 persons were confirmed dead by a medical doctor at Ringim General Hospital.
Also an eye witness, Alhaji Ibrahim told our reporter that the deceased persons lost their lives when the tyre of one vehicle burst after hitting a pothole and ran into the other moving vehicle.
He said, the two commercial vehicles (Golf 3) one moving to Kano and the other heading to Gumel had a head on collision near the village.
One of the vehicle moving to Kano direction burnt into ashes instantly and all four of its passengers and driver burned beyond recognition.
While six died in the other vehicle carrying nine passengers on the spot and the remaining three were rushed to Ringim General Hospital for medical treatment and were later confirmed dead.
According to him, those that burnt beyond recognition were buried near the scene of accident while others were taken to Ringim General Hospital.
