NFF woos Tammy Abraham for Super Eagles again

Date:

In as many times, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have made another attempt to lure Chelsea star Tammy Abraham away from playing for England in favour of playing for the Super Eagles.
Abraham, who holds the Nigerian Ijaw culture names Oghenetega Tamaraebi, has only played for England in a friendly game and therefore is still eligible to pull on the Super Eagles jersey.
NFF president Amaju Pinnick says the association will not ‘relent’ in their pursuit of players like the 21-year-old Abraham.
“We will not relent in our quest for good players to pay for the country and win laurels. We will keep talking to good players of Nigerian descent to play for their Fatherland,” Pinnick said via The Express.
Pinnick further confirmed that Nigeria will have to wait until April 2020 before knowing whether Abraham’s international football career will be in a white or green jersey.
“But these kids are very independent-minded. We have been told to wait until April 2020, when he hopes to make a final decision on the matter.”
“I told him that he had a better chance of playing regularly for Nigeria than with England, which has a galaxy of strikers,” concluded the president.
It could be recalled that in 2018, the Pinnick told the world that the lanky striker had accepted to play for Nigeria after meeting him in London only for the young striker to deny the report few hours later.
However, Abraham has said in recent interviews that he had not closed the door in switching allegiance to Nigeria.
The 21-year old striker has become a potent force in English Premier League this season scoring four goals in four matches for the London side
