Bauchi state command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has deported 77 foreigners residing in the state without valid documents.
While parading the affected foreigners before newsmen in Bauchi on Tuesday, the state Comptroller of the service, Mr Ejukwule Usman, said the foreigners were apprehended in various locations across the state.
Accor ding to Mr. Ejukwule, “the affected persons includes Camerounians, Chadians and Nigeriens, all were arrested while conducting illegitimate business in the state. In view of the security situation bedeviling the country, particularly the North-East region, it has become imperative for Immigration service to take measures that will ensure the protection of lives and properties”.
The comptroller said that the exercise was also to sanitize the state of criminal activities and pave way for the smooth conduct of the 2015 general elections.
