We’ll pay all Customs duties – Kaduna Motor dealers

Kaduna State Motor Dealers Association, has said its members are law abiding citizens who are ready to pay all accrued duties to the Nigerian Customs Service and other agencies.
The Chairman of the association, Alhaji Ahmed Abdullahi made the assertion while addressing newsmen in Kaduna yesterday.
In his reaction to the recent face-off between the motor dealers and the Nigerian Custom Service in Kaduna, Abdullahi said what transpired was misunderstand and has been resolved.
He added that the situation was unfortunate, which according to him seriously affects their businesses, but assuring that the association will not compromised the policies of the government in its efforts to reposition the country for better.
He explained further that order has been given to all members to comply with the directive of the Custom to ensuring that all expected duties are paid on every vehicle.
A member of the association, Ahmad Abdullahi Magaji, whose company was also sealed and reopened by the Custom, debunked the rumour that motor dealers in Kaduna don’t usually pay Custom duties and that vehicles were smuggled into the state by the motor dealers.
Magaji who is the Managing Director, B. T Motors cautioned that members should desist from attacking officials of the Nigerian Customs, saying that no government plays with revenue.
He further explained that anybody who smuggled in vehicles into the state is not a genuine member of the association.
“Members of the Kaduna state motor dealers association is law abiding citizen who will never compromise government policies.
“We all know that government provides meaningful developmental projects to its citizens through generated revenue”.
