Jabi Lake: Firm mulls $15m investment for Abuja cruise project

In a bid to revamp the popular Jabi Lake for multifaceted recreational activities, a private firm, Adcelerate limited has disclosed advanced move to construct and deploy an eco friendly luxury cruise like floating entertainment platform on the Lake.
According to the firm, the project was conceived with the sole aim of complementing the existing developments within the nation’s capital city, to boost tourism and add to the aesthetics of the Abuja and amongst create over 170 direct jobs and over 10,000 indirect jobs in its value chain.
Making this disclosure yesterday during a chat with journalists in Abuja, Adcelerate’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Maxwell Omar Gabari, said the size of the proposed Jabi Lake Luxury Cruise is Length-250ft (76.2m) x Breadth – 80ft (24.5m) x Height 57ft (17.2m).
Gabari added that the project estimated to cost about 15 million US dollars will contribute to the already existing and ongoing developments in the capital city.
He explained that the project features; restaurant, lounge, 100 seater capacity event/cinema hall, amusement arcade /open areas, swimming pool, Marina at stern for water sports such as Jet ski, boat rides, fishing, surfing etc, lake view accommodation with private balcony and a bridge deck with solar panel roof.
He opined that the project, which will be the first inland cruise in Nigeria will create an improved and sustainable Lake management and boost the city’s revenue base.
Commenting on the lingering lawsuit that has hampered the developments around the Jabi Lake area, the CEO said “ the laws only affects the Jabi Lake Garden and Park, which four people are claiming ownership of the place.”
“But we cannot leave the the entire huge space abadoned, so I think the FCT Minister needs to take a firm resolve to maintain the place, because it’s a beautiful place that is left underdeveloped.
“So we knew about the issues, the that’s why we are not doing Jabi Garden, we are actually on the Lake, and as a private company we want to maximize the value of the Lake for the benefit of investors and residents in the Territory.”
