Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has ordered the Ministry of Religious Affairs to create a Department of Christian Affairs, to be headed by a Christian director, in the spirit of equity and fairness.
He gave the order when the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Kebbi State chapter paid him a thank-you visit.
He told the association’s members that God has put them at the helms of affairs, and they were doing their best to address all challenges facing the populace, with an emphasis on equity and fairness.
According to him, there was no justification whatsoever for the association not to have representation in the Ministry of Religious Affairs, or even to have its own ministry, as is the case in some states.
He thanked the association for their prayers for peace to reign in the state and the country. He also thanked them for their support in his re-election bid in 2027.
