The Jigawa state Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido has charged the present day politicians to emulate the progressive political ideology of the late Malam Aminu Kano that has been noted for his selfless thrive for the emancipation of the masses (talakawa).
“The political class in the country particularly in the North must emulate and uphold the legacy of the late Malam Aminu Kano for them to be able to emancipate the region and the country at large from the current political and economic quagmire.”
Governor Lamido made this call yesterday when he received the leadership and management of the Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic Research and Training (Mumbaya House) Kano, who paid him a courtesy call.
The Governor explained that, it is well known that, the late Malam Aminu Kano spent all his life in the struggle for the emancipation of the common man and had chart a good course for the whole country by building a vibrant political structure that is based on national interest.
Lamido also urged government at all levels to participate in the conservation of what late Aminu Kano has left behind and the ideology he stood for. “They should practice and learn from Aminu Kano’s political ideology”.
As a student of Malam Aminu Kano’s school of political thought, Governor Lamido promised to support the course of late Malam Aminu Kano of blessed memory to promote the current democracy.
Earlier, the Director of the Centre, Professor Muhammed Dahiru Suleiman commended Lamido for transforming Jigawa state by executing laudable projects and programs that has direct bearing to the needs citizens of the state .
He also told the governor that, they were in his office to solicit his support for the centre to achieve its targeted goals.
