Swiss envoy tasks Nigeria media influencers on ‘irregular migration’

Switzerland government has called on Nigeria social and mainstream media influencers to support the advocacy against irregular migration from Africa to Europe.
The Switzerland Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Georg Steiner gave the advice during the graduation of Ceremony of over 100 trainees from Society for the Empowerment of Young Persons (SEYP).
According to him, “social media influencers should use their platforms to talk about the danger of irregular migration.
“I just want to encourage you to double check the options you have and be critical in your thinking before you make that journey.
“I urge you to talk to people who had embarked on that deadly journey through the Mediterranean sea to Europe.
“Migration through the Mediterranean is a terrible journey”, he warned.
He described the feat the training programme as commendable.
In his remarks, the executive Director, Society for the Empowerment of Young Persons (SEYP), Jennifer Ero, admitted that irregular migration and Human Trafficking are difficult to stop, but, sustain campaign was required to put the menace at bay.
She commended the Switzerland government for supporting the trainees with production machines and startups grants.
“If our women are empowered economically, they will be able to train their Children who have suffered different exploitation and prevent their Children from been vulnerable.
I want to assure you that there is great reward when you fight for others.
“Nigeria has produced dysfunctional adults and how do we stop it?
