NDE trains 50 unemployed youths in Benue

The National Directorate of Employment, NDE has commenced the training of over 50 unemployed school leavers and graduates for its Sustainable Agriculture Development Scheme, SADT.
The program was flagged up yesterday in Otukpo local government area by the National Coordinator of NDE Dr. Ladan Argungu.
Represented by the new Benue State NDE Coordinator, Mra. Bala Musa Sadauki, Dr. Argungu said the emphasis of the program is on modern technology to ensure that agricultural research and expansion are high input for sole cropping or animal production system in which states have comparative advantage.
He also, said that the trainees will be trained rigorously in various aspects of modern agricultural production for a period of three(3) months with two(2) weeks of experiential training in both Livestock and crops, adding that the focus is on vegetable and Livestock production.
Dr. Ladan intimated that at the end of the program, trainees will be given further orientation followed by agriprenuerial.
“Trainees will be carefully guided to prepare and produce business plans of their chosen enterprise. Participants of the scheme will be encouraged to form cooperative groups minimum of 10 members for possible resettlement”, he said.
Head of Department, Rural Employment Promotion Mr. Michael Ocheje explained that the trainees will be split into two(2) groups and swapped after one week.
He urged them to be committed to the training, warning that anyone who flouts the rules and regulations of the training, would not be given anything at the end.
