SEMA visits victims of flood, fire disaster in Yobe State

The Executive Chairman of Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Mohammed Goje has, at the directive of the state governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, visited and condoled with victims of flood disaster that destroyed about fifteen houses and rendered more than 100 people homeless.
According to one of the victims of the flood disaster in Potiskum, Bilyaminu photographer with twenty children, who spoke to newsmen during the visit, complained that for years now, the community has been making appeals to both government and wealthy individuals to come to their aid but with no result.
He therefore commended SEMA and the state government for sending representative to see and console them, appealing for the government assistance, not only aids to the victims, but to find a lasting solution to the problem.
SEMA chairman has during the visit assured of government’s quick intervention to ameliorate the sufferings of the people, stating that he was directed by the state governor to visit and assess the situation and submit report that would help in determining government level of intervention on behalf of the people and that technical officers of the agency would the next visit to make the necessary assessment.
In Bade local government when SEMA visited the site of the Potassium market that was engulfed with fire, he was made to know that a total of twenty-five shops were destroyed by the fire thus rendering over fifty youths who earns their living through the trade.
Dr. Goje assured government quick intervention and that, as requested by the council chairman, Alh. Aji S. Suleiman, and the Potassium market chairman, Mohammed Aminamin, find a lasting solution to the regular fire incidences in the market.
