The Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) on Tuesday, promised to liaise with host communities towards tackling vandalism in schools in Niger Delta region.
Manager Community Relations Department of NPDC, Mr Dahiru Abubakar said this during the presentation of educational supplies worth billions of naira to 10 public secondary schools in all NPDC host communities (OML 111) in Benin city, Edo State.
He said: “We will also liaise with the manager in charge of security in NPDC to see how we can provide some security to guard all the equipment that we have there.
“Secondly, about the books, if you look at them, they are domesticated books written by Nigerians and are in accordance with the curriculum of the National Examinations Council (NECO) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC)”, he said.
The Principal of Ozolua Senior Secondary School in Benin, Mr Paul Omorogbe, had drew the attention of the management to the alleged theft of some equipment hoodlums.

In a remark, the firm’s General Manager, Community Relation and Security, Mr. Ugo Atugbokoh who was represented by the Managing Director, NPDC, Mr. Mansur Sambo, promised to sustain the initiative, which according to him, has positively impacted the host communities.
He also stressed that the presentation was part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), and second presentation to schools in its host communities in the past two years since 2018.
The items donated are e-Library, tablets, science textbooks, notebooks, desks and chairs.
