Determined in their over sight functions to correct many irregularities in urban development, the Committee on Lands and Survey, Delta State House of Assembly on Wednesday declared that they were ready to step on toes to ensure Deltans are properly served.
Chairman of the Committee, Barr Ruben Izeze who spoke to journalists in Asaba said” we will do our job within the confines of the law no matter whose ox is gored, in the entire process,we will be friendly but not familiar, and we will step on toes and follow the land Act duly where the need arises, we will investigate the appropriation of income generated for the people because it’s only expected that in public service, accountability should be rendered”
Izeze while commending the state Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for his commitment to infrastructural development in the state, adding that development remained the dividends of democracy.
Noting that there was need for restructuring, the lawmaker added that it was the best way out of Nigeria” myraid problems and declared that Nigeria was ripe for restructuring even as he said it was disheartening for some people to be agitating against it or saying that Nigerians only needed to restructure their mind and not the country.
Meanwhile, the state government has approved the employment of 100 extension service staff for the Agricultural Development Programme ( ADP)
But the state Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Julius Egbedi who confirmed this to Journalists in Asaba, said that the state government had created an environment and platform for farmers in the state to improve on their yeilds through commercial farming and also aid export of farm produce by providing 20 tractors to farmers to encourage mechanised farming in the state.
