Bagudu presents 2020 budget of N138.18bn to assembly

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State on Wednesday presented a total sum of N138.18 billion appropriation bill to the State House of Assembly for the 2020 fiscal year
The budget which was described by the Governor as budget of continuity was N13.37 billion less than 2019 budget, adding that the proposed budget would be sourced from the consolidated Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), which he admitted has tremendously improved.
Governor Bagudu who deeply appreciated the cooperation that exists between the Executive and the Legislature in the past five years said the House has supported the government in all its endeavours, a situation which he said to have enabled the government to performed optimally.
He stated that his administration since inception five years ago has paid the entitlements of its work force, pointing out that the State government has keyed into the payment of the N30,000 minimum wage and a N7,000 increment to those whose the N30,000 did not capture.
The Governor enumerated that education, health and water sector remains his administration’s priority, noting that a total sum of N24 billion has been dished out for recruitment of teachers into secondary schools across the state while the sum of N250 million was spent to support the home grown feeding programmes of the Federal government in the State.
He maintained that the state government also paid the sum of N450 million for WAEC and NECO examinations while the sum of N500 million was spent to support the out of school children to acquire especially girls to acquire basic skills that could take them out of the streets.
