NGO drills youth on perils of irregular migration

A Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), Mothers Earth International Foundation has implored youth in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to always go through the proper channel, if they must migrate from Nigeria, to escape dangers associated to irregular migration.
This advocacy was made known by founder of the Foundation, Hafsatu Yusuf while addressing journalists in the nation’s capital, recently.
She opined that because of illegal means of traveling, several youths have died while others have been abused and molested by traffickers in their bids to flee the country.
Yusuf added that most people have been brainwashed into believing that they could sell their possession and give the money to traffickers to get away from the country.
She urged youth that instead of risking their lives, they should contact the migration office of the Nigerian Immigration Service or search on the internet on the proper means and channels of getting into their choice countries.
According to her, the Foundation had concluded plans of engaging youths and sensitising them on the need to desist from irregular migration during its conference on women migration to be held in 2020.
She equally called on the governments to have a displacement tracking system and also rejig social intervention programme to cover the most vulnerable people in the society.
