Aspirant for the Zamfara North Senatorial District, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has backed the appointment of Senator Abdul’Aziz Abubakar Yari as Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
Shinkafi described Yari as an experienced politician with the organisational capacity and political network required to lead the campaign.
In a statement signed by him on Saturday, Shinkafi commended President Bola Tinubu for choosing what he described as a competent and experienced political leader for the assignment.
“I commend Mr President for appointing a man of structure, a man of unmatched experience, and a leader of proven loyalty to spearhead this critical national assignment,” he said.
Shinkafi said Yari’s political experience had positioned him to coordinate the campaign and mobilise support for the President’s re-election bid.
He said Yari’s political career began at the grassroots in Zamfara State, where he served as State Secretary and later State Chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party.
According to him, Yari subsequently served as National Treasurer of the ANPP before becoming a member of the House of Representatives between 2007 and 2011.
Shinkafi also highlighted Yari’s tenure as governor of Zamfara State and his role in the development of the All Progressives Congress in the state.
He said Yari had built political relationships across the country and understood the structures of political parties, traditional institutions and grassroots organisations.
The Zamfara North senatorial aspirant urged APC members and other stakeholders to support the campaign council under Yari’s leadership.
“I call upon all APC members, stakeholders, and indeed all well-meaning Nigerians who believe in sustainable democracy, progress and development to extend their maximum cooperation and support to the Campaign Council under Senator Yari,” he said.
Shinkafi expressed confidence that Yari would provide what he described as disciplined and focused leadership to the campaign.
“With Senator Abdul’Aziz Abubakar Yari leading the charge as Director-General, we have no doubt that this Campaign Council will be disciplined, laser-focused, and will deliver a historic victory to the Tinubu/Shettima ticket and the APC,” he stated.
