Gov Yari pledges to upgrade Islamic school

Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar of Zamfara state has pledged to expand Riyadul Quran Islamic school operating in Gusau, the state capital.

Yari, who made the pledge at the graduation ceremony of 70 students of the school, through his Commissioner for land and survey, Lawal Jibril Jangebe said, the state government will construct more classrooms and provide both teaching and learning materials for the school.

He said the state government plans to upgrade Islamic schools across the state for students to acquire religious discipline with a view to promoting peace and unity in the state.

He contended that the rise in crime-related activities among the youth across the nation, were as result of lack of education on religious knowledge.

The Governor commended the performance of the school in the teachings of the holy Quran and promised that the state government would look into the issue of teachers’ salary and trainings in the institution.

Earlier, proprietor of the school, Yusuf Jafaru Rawayya, thanked the state government for its contribution towards the development of the school.

Rawayya disclosed that, the school has graduated over four hundred married women, seven hundred other students comprising boys and girls since its inception 13 years ago.
