I saw democracy at work in Yobe -NUJ President

The national President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Chris Isiguzo, has described the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni as a demonstration of “democracy at work”, aimed at improving the living standards of the people.
He stated this in an interview with Journalists shortly after visiting the sites of some ongoing projects in the state during his two days official visit to the state.
Some of the projects he visited include the polythene bag and woven sac factory, the new ultra-modern market and the state cargo airport.
During the interview which took place at the premises of the woven sac factory, he appreciated the governor’s foresight in reviewing some of these dormant industries considering their impact on the state economy.
The polythene bag and woven sac factory, he recalled, was commissioner in 2004 under the administration of former head of state, President Olusegun Obasanjo and later abandoned and for years thereafter, nothing happened.
At the time of the visit, he was told that the facility which has now engaged thirty five personnel, is capable of producing a total number of 7500 sacs per day.
In such a position, he said, the state would not need to import, since they can produce it by themselves, but have enough to use and even export.
“It is always good for the government to ensure that ailing industries are revived. When you do that, you are removing a large number of people out of the unemployment market place,” he stated.
“We are indeed gladdened by what we have seen on ground. This is practical. It is not about somebody sitting somewhere and saying it that we have done this, we have done that. We have come, and we have seen it,” the President stated further.
