Information minister accused of not appointing top officers for agencies

Date:

By Usman Shuaibu

A senior staff at the National Institute for Culture and Orientation Abuja (name withheld) has accused the minister of failing to appoint substantive Executive Secretaries/Director-General for the agencies under the Federal Ministry of Information.
He disclosed that most of the Executive Secretaries/Director-General were serving the agencies on acting capacity for two years now.
He further revealed that the Executive Secretaries/Director-General were supposed to serve the agencies on acting capacity for 3 or 6 months which was acceptable by law.
According to him, some of the acting Executive Secretaries/Director-General serving in the ten agencies are the members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He, therefore, appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari and minister of information to deem it necessary to remove the acting Executive Secretaries/Director-General in order to create jobs for others.
