Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has sought the support of traditional rulers and residents of Musawa Local Government Area for President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima and other All Progressives Congress candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Radda also called for sustained prayers for peaceful elections, saying his administration was committed to delivering on its promises to the people.
The governor made the appeal during a visit to the District Head of Musawa, Alhaji Sagir Abdullahi Inde, and other traditional leaders ahead of the Tinubu–Dikko 2027 campaign rally.
According to a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, and made available to journalists on Friday, Radda urged the traditional institution to sustain its support for the APC leadership.
“As we approach the 2027 elections, I seek your continued prayers and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima and all our candidates.
“We pray for peaceful elections and the opportunity to continue delivering on our promises,” he said.
The governor also attributed improvements in security across Musawa and neighbouring communities to cooperation among the government, traditional rulers, security agencies and residents.
“By the grace of Allah, we have made considerable progress in addressing the security challenges affecting our communities. We appreciate the cooperation of our traditional rulers and residents and remain committed to sustaining these gains,” Radda said.
He recalled the support Musawa residents gave the APC during the 2023 elections, saying his administration had continued to work towards fulfilling its campaign promises.
“Four years ago, we came here seeking your prayers and support, which you generously gave us. Since assuming office, we have continued working to fulfil our promises and develop Katsina State,” he said.
Radda also highlighted the appointments of Musawa indigenes into federal and state government positions, including ministerial, commissioner and advisory roles, describing them as evidence of his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance.
He listed support for traditional institutions, youth employment, regular allowances for recognised Islamic leaders and the Community Development Programme among the interventions aimed at strengthening grassroots development.
The governor commended the district head for his guidance and cooperation with the government, particularly in promoting security and community welfare.
In his response, Inde commended the Radda administration for its development projects and efforts to tackle insecurity across the state.
“Your Excellency, we have witnessed the numerous projects and development initiatives undertaken by your administration. Your achievements speak for themselves and demonstrate your commitment to our people,” the traditional ruler said.
He recalled the security challenges previously experienced in the area, expressing satisfaction with the improvements recorded.
The district head cited a briefing by the Commissioner for Internal Security, which indicated an estimated 80 per cent improvement in addressing security challenges.
He also appreciated the government for appointing indigenes of Musawa into political and public offices, assuring the governor of the community’s continued unity, cooperation and support for peace and development.
Similarly, the Chairman of Musawa Local Government Area, Hon. Aliyu Idris Gin-Gin, assured Radda of the commitment of APC stakeholders to strengthening grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said party leaders, ward structures and members remained united behind the party’s political activities.
Those present during the visit included Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe; Minister of Art, Culture and Tourism, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa; Senator Muntari Dandutse; former Secretary to the State Government and Campaign Council Co-Chairman, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa; and other members of the Tinubu–Dikko 2027 Campaign Council.
Traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, political stakeholders and senior government officials also attended the meeting.
