The National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) on Tuesday bestowed meritorious awards on the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu and the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC) Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed alongside the seventeen other personalities for their selfless services.
Speaking at the award night, the President of NAAT, Engr Sani Suleiman, said the leadership of the association would continue to recognize and honour individuals who had been contributing to the development of the association. He also said the purpose of the award night was to acknowledge those heroes who had impacted positively on the lives of the members.
While presenting a welcome address at the opening ceremony of the 4th NAAT National Delegates Conference, held at the NAAT National Secretariat, permanent site of the University of Abuja, the NAAT President appealed to the Federal Government to gear up towards the implementation of agreement which include CONTISS 14 and 15 career structure for technologists.
He further called on the Government to deem it necessary to provide infrastructural facilities for the Government Technical Colleges across the country in the interest of the students.
He also pleaded with the government of the day to give the necessary attention to the security challenges facing the country, and commended the Government for the construction and rehabilitation of some federal roads.
On the Vice-Chancellors’ appointment, Suleiman pointed out that any Vice-Chancellor who was appointed in Nigerian universities “must declare their assets and make them public to the University Community and do same at the end of his or her tenure in office.”
