Groups in pact to fight malaria in Jigawa

No fewer than, 350 non-governmental organisations, Civil Societies Organisation and traditional rulers across twenty seven local government areas have agreed to join hands and fight malaria cases in Jigawa State.
This was announced by the facilitator for Malaria Consortium in t‎he state, Comrade Musbahu Basirka during a one- day public dialogue on malaria control organised by Malaria Consortium held at Ahmadu Bello Hall Dutse.‎
He explained that, the purpose of the dialogue is to discuss issues that would help in fight against malaria in Jigawa.
According to him, the dialogue gave chances to citizens to have their inputs towards addressing malaria cases in the state.
Comrade Basurka maintained that, the dialogue also will help government to give more priority to malaria in the fiscal year’s budget.
While making his remarks at gathering, the state Deputy Governor Alhaji Umar Namadi assured of the state government’s commitment to any move that would help in reducing the cases of malaria in the state.
Namadi explained that‎, government is ready to join hands with any national or international organisation that would help to reduce the rampant cases of malaria across the twenty seven local government areas in the state.
According to him, a similar partnership ‎with Jigawa State government done in fight against polio diseases ad HIV and yielded a positive results.
The deputy governor also promised that as part of state government’s effort to reduce malaria cases in the state, mor‎e funds will be allocated to the health sector budget.
