Most Ghanaian footballers use marijuana – Coach

Date:

A Ghanaian football coach has revealed that 60% of players in local championships use marijuana.
Great Accra Olympics coach JE Sarpong made the shocking revelations during an interview with Angel FM on Thursday.
He however said that he has no issue with the abuse of the substance as long as it doesn’t affect the performance of the team.
“It’s a bad practice but if I win the match, that’s fine with me. I take my winning match bonuses and I go,” he said.
However, marijuana is on the list of prohibited substances in the practice of sport, although its performance enhancing effect has not yet been proved.
Its popularity among the younger generations as a social drug puts cannabis at the top of the list of compounds detected by the anti‐doping laboratories accredited by the World Anti‐Doping Agency worldwide.
