There is a looming crisis at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) kaduna study centre over plot to forcefully evict them from their residential quarters by the Managemen and allocate it to others.
Investigation revealed that trouble stated in 2016, when the kaduna study centre of the University was turned to Federal Ministry of Education complex.
The development brought in others Agencies like National Board for Arabic Islamic studies (NAIBS) and National Commission for Nomadic Education NCNE.
Some of the staff were told to vacate their houses as it has been allocated to the incoming Agencies.
This development did not go down well with them as they are all working for the same Goverment and should not be made to vacate the houses .
Investigation further showed that the staff whose quarters were allocated to NBAIS went to Court and get a Order restraining the management from evicting them.
The situations degenerated to a situations where police were called in to moved the staff out of their quarters but that was restricted.
A staff who will not want her name on print said they have a tenant/ Landlord relationship with the NOUN and their rent are deducted from the source.
She added that the situation is now so critical with the inclusion of universities staff in IPPIS and their take home pay has been greatly affected
“Having seen what happen some of us who houses were not affect also went to court to restraints NOUN anagement from ejecting us from our houses .
“We wrote Vice Chancellor of recent but were told he minute it to the same registrar who has since sat on the letter seeking for release our allowance they hv bin holding “She said
Similarly an official of the Residents Parliament which was an umbrella for staff residing in the Quarters Dr. Abdulrazaq Musa said the NOUN staff are been cheated and the move asking them to vacate their quarters to another agency is injustice.
According to him the whole game is to pressed staff so they can move out and the Management will allocate the houses to friends and cronies
He therefore called on President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Assembly and Minister of Education Adamu Adamu to intervene and see that they are not rob to pay others agencies.
