CBN to rehabilitate Buhari’s alma mater

The Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, will soon commence the general renovation of President Muhammad Buhari’s alma mater secondary school in Katsina.
The school known as Government College now Dikko College was taken over by the apex bank for the total upgrading of existing dilapidated structures built since 1921 by the then Governor-General Sir Clifford.
The Patron, Government College Katsina Old Boys Association (1989 set), Alhaji Haruna Dalhatu disclosed this during the general meeting of the association held at the college Assembly Hall at the weekend.
Dalhatu explained that, the project would have commenced earlier but for the emergence of COVID-19 pandemic delayed the take off of the renovation work.
He therefore urged members of the GOCOBA-89 to continue the good works started by ensuring needed assistance to orphans and widows of members to make life meaningful to them.
Earlier, the Chairman caretaker Committee of GOCOBA-89, Alhaji Misbau Maizare gave a general review of the committee’s activities in the last one year, calling for unity and understanding amongst members to achieve desired goals.
Also speaking, the association’s Committee chairman for the care of orphans, Alhaji Umar Kabir said during the year under review, the Committee has expended over two hundred thousand naira for the provision of food items and other consumables for orphans of deceased members.
In a related development, the Funtua Old Boys Association FOBA, has expressed it’s commitment to improve the present status of the college to make it conducive for better learning.
The Coordinating Chairman of the association, class of 1969, Dr Aliyu Yahaya stated this during it’s annual general meeting held in Katsina at the weekend.
Yahaya enjoined all the chairmen of the class sets of the college from 1962-2012 to work towards the total rehabilitation of the school by coming to the aid of the College.
On his part, the association’s national chairman, Col Abdulmumini Aminu rtd promised that, the national leadership would do it’s best to improve the condition of the school for the benefit of of the younger generation.
