The Senate yesterday queried the Managing Director of Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), over the continued scarcity of petroleum products across the country, even as they demanded to know the state of the refineries and how much that has been spent in turnaround maintenance of the three refineries.
During a hearing yesterday by the Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), the chairman of the committee, Magnus Abe, also told the PPMC boss to furnish it with the records of its transactions on the crude oil swap, in addition to the expenses incurred on chattering jets for its operations.
In addition to the above, the senate committee also charged the PPMC Director to produce a record of the kerosene imported into the country, in addition to how it has been distributing these products.
Meanwhile, there is a conflicting figure on the amount of money being owed to the petroleum marketers by the Ministry of finance; hence the committee chairman invited the independent markers to appear before the committee today.
In his response, the Managing Director of Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), Haruna Momoh, promised to wet the country with petrol.
