PHCN seeks army intervention on cable’s vandalisation

Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) has se the intervention of the Nigerian army to address the continuous vandalisation of PHCN facilities. The Executive Officer of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC), Alhaji Idris Mohammed made the plead while receiving the Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Artillery, Kachia, Kaduna state, Major General Mohammed Alkali in his office yesterday.

Alhaji Idris Mohammed said based on request and patronage from the army community in Kachia, the PHCN office in Kachia has been upgraded to a business unit in order to provide effective and efficient

service.

“The major problem we are having in Kachia district today is vandalisation and we are seeking the intervention of the new commandant to assist in curbing the menace.

“We are also calling on the military to help us by ensuring that their bills are promptly settled so that we can serve them better,” Alhaji Mohammed said.

In his own remarks, Major General Alkali said the army has been working in partnership with PHCN to arrest vandals and ensure that PHCN facilities are protected.

Major General Alkali said utilities bills are settled directly from the Ministry of Defence.

He however called on Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company to make available all outstanding bills due to Nigerian Army School of Artillery, Kachia to ensure that they are settled.

“In our own area, we will intensify security to arrest people responsible for vandalisation of your properties. Even though the GOC has the duty for providing security for areas within his jurisdiction there is a synergy between us and the GOC because we are located in Kachia we have to see to the security of the area,” Major General Alkali stated.
