The National Organising Secretary of African Democratic Congress (ADC) Alhaji Ibrahim A Suleiman has rated democracy low in Nigeria 21 years after the end of military rule.
Speaking ahead of the 60th Independent Anniversary Ibrahim Suleiman opined that Nigeria may be celebrating 21 uneventful years of democracy.
He posted that as one of those who fought to end military rule and the enthronement of democracy, he stand to say boldly that Nigerians are yet to enjoy dividends of democracy because of poor, inefficient, selfish and corrupt leadership foisted on the country: the citizens are worse off today compared even the days of the military dictators.
According to him despite 21 years of democracy, Nigeria is not yet out of the woods and citizens are the worst for it because of poor leadership.
He added that it is sad to observe that the nation is yet to enjoy basic amenities of life that developed countries enjoy such as uninterrupted electricity supply, potable drinking water, good roads, access to health-care and education almost 60 years after independence.
