NGO trains Jigawa journalists on child mortality issues

As part of its effort to reduce child mortality rate, a non governmental organisation known as Save the children, trained journalists on how to reduce child mortality in the state.
While speaking at the training, the state project manager, Save the children, comrade Abdullahi Magama said, media have a vital role to play in tackling and reducing child mortality in our rural communities.
Magama who related the causes of child mortality with Pneumonia,malnutrition, Malaria and diarrhoea, decries inadequate funding from government at various level to tackle the cases.
According to him, Save the children is doing all its best to collaborate with government and other stakeholders to confront the challenges of child killer diseases in Jigawa state.
He said, the purpose of the training is to strengthen capacity of media on pneumonia and child illness including Covid-19 and enhance credible and accurate reportage.
The state project manager maintained that, reducing child killer diseases is an individual and collective responsibilities through creating awareness to publics on how to safeguard and protect the children.
Magama also said, save the children trained health workers, non clinical staffs and journalists on infection, prevention and control of covid – 19 in Jigawa state.
He then called on media practitioners to take behavioural change enlightenment to grassroots level to save million lives of Jigawa children and to save the future of the state.
