The Obi Ute-Ogbeje Kingdom in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM Gabriel Jikeme 1 (JP), has stressed on the need for continuous peaceful coexistence among the kingdoms in Ika nation.
The Obi made the assertion during the occasion of the celebration of the kingdom’s new yam festival and commissioning of his palace.
According to him, in the history of Ute-Ogbeje, yam had been recognized as a major cash crop, saying it played a significant role in the lives of the people economically and otherwise.
While commending the sons and daughters of the kingdom for their contribution towards the advancement of the community, he said he was proud of them.
Speaking further, Obi Chukwuma stated that the presence of traditional rulers from across Ika land and environs was as a result of the wealth of peace, unity and love existing among them.
“My candid appeal to the people of Ika nation is to eschew any act inimical to the blissful unity and love that has come to stay in our land,” he said.
The monarch maintained that unity remained the hallmark of progress and development of any society, urging Ika people to continue to guide Jealously the things that kept them together and to cash in on the divine atmosphere to better the lives of the people.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Chiefs Joseph Okafor, expressed joy over solidarity shown by the traditional rulers who where present at the ceremony.
