The Mo Ibrahim Foundation (MIF) has announced it will launch the 2020 Index of African Governance (IIAG) with a fully updated framework, and called on stakeholders to watch out on Monday 16 November 2020, when the 2020 dataset, results and analysis will be made public.
A statement from the Foundation yesterday said media briefing will be held on the day of the launch, where the Foundation’s Executive Director Nathalie Delapalme and the Foundation’s representatives will unpack the 2020 IIAG trends and findings. ‘More details on how to register will be available in the coming weeks,’ the statement said.
Media interviews will also be available with MIF’s exceptional line up of spokespeople including Board Members, Ibrahim Prize Committee members, Ibrahim Prize Laureates and Now Generation Network representatives, a coalition of young and mid-career Africans committed to moving the continent’s development agenda forward.
The Foundation noted that Africa is a continent with great potential, home to the youngest population in the world, but that it also faces major challenges including climate change, lack of employment and of course the impact of COVID-19 on the continent’s social, economic and political landscape.
’The 2020 IIAG, Africa’s foremost dataset on governance, will provide a clear picture of governance progress over the last decade (2010-2019), and how countries are set to manage these challenges and fulfil the promise of the continent’s future,’ it said.
