The Senate Monday mourned over the 43 rice farmers gruesomely killed by Boko Haram insurgents on Saturday with cancellation of functions earlier slated for the day.
The first of the functions cancelled by the Senate in honour of the slain farmers was the ‘He for She Award of Excellence’ , planned to be given to the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, by the Ministry of Women Affairs at the NAF Conference Centre, Kado, Abuja.
The Upper legislative Chamber’s committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT), also cancelled its budget deliberation meeting with the FCT Minister, Mohammad Bello, earlier fixed for 2pm at hearing room 301.
Recall that the chairman of committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abubakar Kyari, is from the area.
