A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, has urged the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria to sustain its focus on pilgrims’ welfare and improve service delivery in the administration of Hajj.
Ahmed gave the advice during a courtesy visit to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, Ambassador Ismail Abba, at the commission’s headquarters, Hajj House, in Abuja.
The former SGF, according to a statement signed by NAHCON’s Head of Information and Publication, Shafii Sani Mohammed, commended the progress being recorded by the commission under its current leadership.
He stressed the importance of prioritising pilgrims’ needs, noting that their welfare was central to improving their overall Hajj experience.
Ahmed also offered strategic advice and encouragement to the commission’s leadership on measures to strengthen Hajj administration and improve services for Nigerian pilgrims.
He expressed appreciation for the reception accorded him by the commission during the visit.
Responding, Abba described the former SGF as an important stakeholder whose administrative experience and knowledge could contribute to the development of the Hajj sector.
The NAHCON chairman thanked Ahmed for his visit and continued interest in the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims.
He said the commission remained committed to drawing on the experience and guidance of stakeholders as it pursued measures to reform Hajj administration and improve service delivery.
Ahmed served as Secretary to the Government of the Federation from September 2008 to May 2011. He also served as Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and Minister of Defence.
