Yuguda completes N2.1bn road projects

Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi state has completed various road projects worth N2.1 billion in Alkaleri axis alone, from 2011 to date.

The Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaji Bappa Azare made the statement during an inspection tour of the roads .

Bappa added that the Ministry awarded about 25 km roads from Tudun-Gambo- Yuguda village in Alkaleri LGA with the inclusion of 37 single culverts, eight double culverts, drainages and bridges at the sum of N1.2 billion to an indigenous contractor.

In a similar development, the commissioner for rural development Alhaji Ubati Mohammed said, the Ministry has awarded a contract for the construction of Alkaleri-Kela-Gwaram road at the cost of N928 million to A.A. Shafa Nigeria limited and work has reached 70 percent completion.

Mohammed also said the vision of the Yuguda administration in constructing the roads was to ensure sustainable and qualitative infrastructures that could support socio-economic growth and development.

Also speaking, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Yuguda, Ishola Michael Adeyemi maintained that government would regulate articulated vehicles plying Alkaleri-Futuk road to ensure its life span.

According to him, the roads are feeder in nature meant for rural communities along the axis which is targeted for the transportation of agricultural products to urban centres.

He further explained that the road is expected to last 50 years with light vehicles since it is not asphalt by standard .
