Zamfara Police to arraign NSCDC corp for stealing recharge cards

Zamfara state Police Command yesterday announced the arrest of a Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) staff in connection with alleged theft of MTN recharge cards worth over 150,000 naira.

Parading the suspect at the Command headquarters in Gusau, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Lawal Abdullahi, informed that the suspect went to a recharge card shop in Tudun Wada area with the impression to recharge his cell phone, after which the shopkeeper noticed the missing MTN recharge cards in large quantity.

DSP Abdullahi further disclosed that after police investigations, a large quantity of MTN recharge cards were discovered in possession of the suspect, who earlier told the police that he was a bricklayer before a salary alert message from his bank exposed him, as it was noticed that he is a serving staff with NSCDC.

According to the police, the suspect claimed to serve under Zamfara state Command of the NSCDC, with the name and rank of another innocent staff working legitimately under the Command before the Zamfara NSCDC PPRO, Aminu Isma’il, clarified that the suspect is serving under Kebbi state Command.

According to the PRO of the Zamfara NSCDC Command, the attitude of giving a fake identity of somebody serving under his Command by the suspect is another crime, but his real identity was discovered after he was identified at the Kebbi Command as, PTE Murtala Saddiq Mohammed.

The Police said, after succeeding in having formidable evidences against the suspect, he will be prosecuted in order to ensure bad eggs were flushed out of security agencies in the state.
