Elected and appointed officials of Niger East Senatorial District of Niger state have been accused of exhibiting non-challant attitude towards the lives of their people who are persistently attacked by bandits and Boko Haram insurgents in the area.
This followed the inability of the state government and security agencies to ensure the protection and safeguarding of lives and property of the citizens of those affected communities.
It was reliably gathered that various communities in Shiroro, Munya, Rafi, Paikoro and some part of Wushishi are being threatened on daily basis where citizens were killed, maimed, intimidated, harrazed and molested by criminals unabated.
According to findings, most of the appointees currently don’t speak on the terrorists attacks going on in the zone in order not to halt the agricultural revolution agenda of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago from getting to their communities sequel to insecurity.
When contacted, an appointee from the Zone who spoke on condition of anonymity lamented that their people are “cowards, disunited and disjointed and cannot speak with one voice.
An indigene of the zone, Hashimu Abubakar who decried the incessant attacks going on in various communities in which many were killed while dozens are in captivity of the bandits, noted that insecurity has paralyzed their economic livelihood.
