Southern Kaduna faults Yero over killings

The Coalition of Community Development Association, Civil Societies and non-governmental organisations, have faulted Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero’s approach to the killing of its people in the Southern Kaduna and described it as lackadaisical and merely palliative without any concrete effort or measure to forestall future attacks and or apprehend the attackers and bring them to justice.

The group stated this during a press conference held in Kaduna yesterday. According to the statement that the government is always quick to state that they are doing their best to handle the situation,

and their best is only to tell people to calm down, telling the security agents are in control of the situation and their after send a few items of relief.

“Government has not taken action that would stop the killings, identify the attackers and bring them to book, even in situation where the communities capture the perpetrators red-handed, while in the art of terrorizing our communities and handed them over to security forces, none have been prosecuted in court to serve as a deterrent.

“It is curious that when governors of other states, like Plateau, Benue, Nassarawa, Kogi and Taraba, affected by the violence have met over the violence, the Kaduna state governor was conspicuously absent from that meeting, in spite of the fact that the larger part of his state, southern Kaduna, is worst affected by the violence.

“The question the people of southern Kaduna would like the governor and chief security officer of the state to answer is, given the primary responsibility of government which is to protect the lives and property of citizens, does it mean that our security situation is not sufficiently grave for him to have joined his colleagues to find a solution to this all important common problems?”

The group warned that unless Moroa massacre is the last act of genocide against the people of southern Kaduna, the people would be left with no option but to conclude that the government has abandoned the southern Kaduna people to their own devices for their security.
